Academic Village

On February 18, 2003, City Council approved the purchase of 171 acres on the northwest corner of Del Prado Blvd and Kismet Parkway for development of an Academic Village. The project will form a partnership among a variety of potential interests including the City of Cape Coral, Lee County School District, Lee County Board of County Commissioners, various university/college branches and other ancillary uses (e.g. a performing arts center, high-tech facilities, science center). Working together, these partners will create an academic environment within a campus setting.

The Village site has sufficient land to allow for the development of the 20-acre softball or soccer recreation facility that the Parks Master Plan indicated would be needed for the Northeast Cape.

Parks and Recreation

The Future Land Use map and city planning call for a community Festival Park south of Kismet, and just west of Del Prado Boulevard, as well as a larger Regional Park on the east side of Del Prado, north of Kismet. Both are extremely close to Concordia and convenient for residents.

Areas in green are slated for future parks.

The larger Regional Park has 520 acres of preserve and park land available owned by Conservation 2020 and the City of Cape Coral. The smaller, community park offers significant waterfront access to area residents.

Pine Island Road Corridor

Just South of the Concordia neighborhood is the fastest growing, most exciting corridor of restaurants, shops, services and destinations along Pine Island Road. Within easy reach along a newly constructed four-lane divided highway, anything you need can be obtained! The items in italics are on the way.

Transportation

The development of Del Prado Blvd north to US 41 has made access to I-75 easier already, with an interchange with I-75 being considered in the future. Easy Tamiami Trail access also makes quick work of a trip in to North Fort Myers or over the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers.
